Dr. Vera L. Songwe, is an economist at the World Bank in Washington, D.C., where she holds the position of Advisor to the Managing Director, South Asia, Eastern and Central Europe and Africa. Ms. Songwe has been with the World Bank since 2000 where she has held various positions and has published works on several economic issues.

Ms. Songwe received her Ph.D. in Mathematical Economics and her Masters Degree in Economics from the Université Catholique De Louvain in Belgium. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan in Economics and Political Science. Ms. Songwe is also a director of Joneso Design & Consulting, Inc.
